Good websites for uni research

Try these websites for various ways to research where to study (alphabetically):
AllAboutCareers see the page on Choosing a University (and there's a free careers test too)
BestCourse4Me (and now they have a new mobile app too)
CareerScapeOnline (to register you need the Licence Code talkfind58)
Push "the ruthlessly independent guide to UK universities"
UCAS  the official UK universities website
UK Coursefinder  website developed by Morrisby (complete with free study-interests questionnaire) on how to choose a course
Unistats official website for comparing UK higher education course data
Which? university  find the course and uni where you want to go, and how to get there.
There are many other websites too.  Online research is fine, but there is no substitute for actually going to the university to see what it's like and meeting students already studying there. Or seek qualified guidance, such as from Youth Connexions.

University Convention this Thursday

Cavendish Year 12 visit to the Uni Convention is this Thursday.  Prepare by researching the universities where you might want to study (if you haven't started already).  Some advice here from UCAS on how to prepare and what to expect.
At the Convention, there will be over 150 stands (most are universities, also some employers, training providers, and other helpful organisations).  You won't have time to see them all - plan your day ahead so you don't miss the ones you want to see.  You will be on your feet all day!
There will be seminars on a range of topics, like how to write a Personal Statement, and how to choose a university.  See the Convention guide here (copies will be available on the day).  Ask lots of questions, talk to lots of students, come back with real plans for your shorlist of uni's where you would like to study.
