16+ paid work placements with Wenta

Are you aged 16-18? Would you like paid work experience? This scheme is aimed at students who would like a valuable paid working opportunity lasting between 8 and 24 weeks in Watford. Students on this scheme will earn £90 per week (tax and NI free) and the opportunity could lead to an apprenticeship.  More information here.

Kaplan Summer School

 
Kaplan are again offering their free Summer School for students in years 11, 12 or 13. This is a 3-day event where to help improve your chances of getting an Apprenticeship job. You'll get practical advice from industry experts about working in Business and Accountancy.  The programme will run at various venues, including Milton Keynes (an easy train journey from Hemel Hempstead).  Apply by 30th June.  More details at their website here.

Visa Europe Apprenticeships


Visa Europe now offers higher apprenticeships in IT and Financial Accounting so learners can progress to a degree level qualification without any debt. School leavers can also apply for an intermediate apprenticeship in Business Administration.

Deloitte School Leaver Programme: BrightStart

For those who have decided that University is not the route for them, the Deloitte BrightStart scheme for school leavers is a structured programme that provides students with the exposure, experience, training and support they need to get ahead in the world of business. KwikFit are offering 2-year apprenticeships across the UK, they are the largest automotive retailer in the UK.  They say: "We offer full time employment from day one with career progression following graduation.

Our Apprenticeships are the gold standard for work-based learning within our sector.  Our programme allows us to select enthusiastic, committed people and offer them development in a way that meets the needs of both the business and the apprentice.  A high number of our apprentice graduates, progress to managerial positions and enjoy a successful career within the Company."  Kwikfit currently recruit 3 times a year (April, August and October).  They deadline for the August intake is end of June.  Click here for their website.

Higher Education Insight Programme


Higher Education Insight is a new residential programme for Year 12. It will provide you with the opportunity to live and learn at the University of Birmingham; one of the country’s leading universities.  You will experience first-hand what it is like to be a student by staying for three days and two nights in the University halls of residence and will attend academic sessions in an area you are interested in. In the evenings, you will be able to take part in social activities, just like a real student.  28-30 August.

Fuselab


Fuselab is an out of this world experience for 16-20 year olds at Edinburgh’s Summerhall in which you’ll plan the future of this as yet uninhabited world. We’re looking for 80 innovative and creative minds – scientists, artists and engineers - to help us develop a sustainable way of life, free from the constraints of the systems and structures we live by here on Earth.  Challenge your thinking through workshops, skills sessions, talks and games; collaborating to design, prototype and test your ideas.  Fuselab 1  1-5 July 2013     Fuselab 2   5-9 July 2013
Applications for both sessions are open now and close on Wednesday 8 May.  40 participants will be selected per session. We welcome applications from the UK and overseas.  Fuselab is completely free of charge, with accommodation, meals and refreshments provided. More details here.
